PHP 4.x has come to its end of life (EOL), we will be updating all servers to PHP 5.x as default and moving PHP 4.x as secondary on all servers.
Your accounts will be using PHP 5.x by default instead of PHP 4.x, but you can easily switch back to PHP 4.x from cPanel control panel by modifying your PHP settings.
The support for PHP 4.x will be permanently removed in the near future (There is no exact ETA for this removal at present), as it’s no longer being developed or maintained by the PHP team.
We expect to have these updates completed by 2nd August 2008
Thanks.

PHP 4 end of life announcement
[13-Jul-2007]
Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued. The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5.
All customers are now able to access the cPanel control panel and Webmail via the standard HTTP port. This means customers who access the internet from corporate networks, or other networks with overly-restrictive firewalls will now be able to log in to these services. We recommend that customers continue to use the usual URLs where available.
To access webmail, you can use the URL http://webmail.example.com/ where example.com is your domain name; or, to access the cPanel control panel the URL is http://cpanel.example.com/.
This issue is affecting clients on server earth.
